Mission: The mission of the Edward R. Bazinet Foundation is to work toward an improved future for the people of Minnesota through a focus on education, arts and culture, the environment and the health and well-being of children and families.

Grant Guidlines
Because we are a relatively small foundation and because we give annual operating grants to a number of organizations that meet our criteria, very few new grants are given each year.
We do not accept unsolicited proposals or inquiries. Our work with The MInneapolis Foundation as well as community forums and local publications keeps us abreast of the work taking place in the community.

Below is a list of the funding criteria used to select the organizations we select for funding.

Funding Criteria:
  • Grants are awarded to organizations which are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
  • Organizations that are selected for unrestricted operating funds, may reapply yearly.
  • Organizations will be favored where moneys advanced by the Bazinet Foundation are augmented by volunteer efforts and by matching grants from others.
  • Arts and cultural institutions that work with children and families from under-represented communities will be given preference.
  • Environmental grants will be directed toward the protection of clean air and water, parks and open spaces, prevention of urban sprawl and unwise development, and preservation of natural areas and wilderness.
  • Preference will be given to pre K-12th grade educational institutions/organizations that work with needy students.
The Foundation does not make grants to the following:
  • Individuals
  • Political Campaigns
  • Private Schools
